An Ikuno-ku home in Osaka that feels like you are floating on a cloud. The clients, a small family with two children, previously lived in a very small apartment and wanted to have the space to feel free and stress free.
We created this oasis in the middle of the city. The walls are covered in Japanese washi paper creating a soft ethereal atmosphere in the home with no hard boundaries. It makes the rooms seem very spacious.
The bed spaces were created above storage areas giving each person their own individual space but at the same time not limiting them with walls that enclose them. The spaces are like floating on a cloud.
Passageways curve and flow to feel like a wandering path in the woods. And gaps let the air and wind flow through naturally creating more space and freedom.
And to ensure that they really feel completely free a large open balcony lets the family feel the limitless sky above them.
