Our client was desperate to find a house in Mukogawa because she wanted her daughter to attend a better school in that area. We helped liaise with real estate agents and found a small block perfectly located for her. There was one problem – it was tiny. Land in this area is really difficult to find and as their #1 priority was location they decided to go ahead and purchase it even though it was only about 27sqm (9 tsubo.)
Our #1 priority was to design a space for their family that would make them feel like they weren’t living in a small box.
We used whites, and light wood to create soft tones that feel soft and airy. Instead of a lot of internal walls we used dividers and created lots of gaps for light and air to flow through.
We used a circular staircase to use less space and create an open look.
The result – a very open, well-planned spacious house that looks bigger than your average home.
